Providing 1-Year Driving History

In order to comply with the requirements of Uber's commercial insurance policy that covers you and your passengers, Uber Partners must prove one year of driving history before they can hit the road (3 years if under age 23).

Follow these instructions if prompted for additional proof - it only takes 5 minutes!

Was your previous driver's license issued in Kentucky?

No.  Don't worry - we got you covered! Click here to find a guide for the state in which your previous driver's license was issued.

Yes. Perfect - just follow the instructions below and you can be on the road in no time!

How do I know if I need to provide proof of licensing history?

If our third-party background screening provider, Checkr, is unable to confirm at least 1-year of driving history, you will receive an email from them.  This most commonly occurs when your license was reissued or renewed within the past year.

Janice's current driver's license was issued less than 1 year ago.  Because of this, she may be required to provide additional information to prove she has at least 1 year of driving history.

How to prove driving history in Kentucky

Do you still have your previous driver's license (or a photocopy)?

Yes. Great! All you have to do is submit a clear photo of your previous driver's license to our third-party background check provider, Checkr, at https://applicant.checkr.com/

No. No worries!  All it takes is two simple steps to complete the process:

Online:

  • You can request a copy of your 3-year driving history record from the Kentucky Division of Driver Licensing by visiting this site. Once you download a copy of your official driving history record, save it for your records.
  • Once you receive a copy of your driving history record from the DMV, all you have to do is submit an electronic copy, clear photo or scan of your driving history record at https://applicant.checkr.com/.

In person:

  • You can request your 3-year driving history record in person by visiting your local Kentucky DDL office; a list of locations can be found here.
  • Once you receive a copy of your driving history record from the DMV, all you have to do is submit an electronic copy, clear photo or scan of your driving history record at https://applicant.checkr.com/.
